What is aerial acrobatics?

Aerial Silks

Aerial silks is our most popular class at the studio! It is the perfect combination of physical strength, flexibility and fun! Aerial silks is a circus and gymnastics art where you’re suspended in the air by two lengths of fabric rigged from a high point. Your body wraps and knots around the fabric whilst striking incredible positions and drops. Our classes are structured to build strength, flexibility, and correct technique. We also love to encourage creativity among our students and allow them to explore their own style in the air.

Aerial Hoop

Aerial Hoop also known as aerial lyra is a suspended steel hoop in the air which our students make beautiful, elegant positions on. Not only can you look glamorous striking shapes on the hoop you can also try daring drops, spinning work and strop work. If flexibility is your thing or you have a background in dance, aerial hoop is the perfect introduction into the aerial world!

Aerial Rope / Corde Lisse

Aerial rope is a vertical aerial apparatus. Corde lisse is a common name for aerial rope, this originates from the french language and translate to ‘smooth rope’. You can get two types of aerial ropes, one called 3 ply which is three different parts of rope which are plaited together classically used in circus, this can be more tasking on the grip but very durable and sturdy for wraps. The other type of rope is a covered rope which has a smooth covering to make it softer for grip and rolling. The covered ropes tend to be used more regularly now as aerialists are training much more gymnastic, dynamic and rolling techniques.

Aerial Trapeze

You may know trapeze as the most easily recognisable classic circus equipment, seen widely across the world in big circus tents. You can have static trapeze and flying trapeze, which is basically what it says on the tin! Static trapeze is moves, rolls, dynamic movement on the trapeze dead hanging. Flying trapeze is where you are high up on a rig and swing from one trapeze to the other with the option of being caught by another aerialist. Trapeze’s can also vary in size allowing you to do solo, doubles or trio acts in the air.
